Today's the Day!

Florence is 101 years young!   That's 36,890 days!    God bless ya, Mom!

 We are practicing with the birthday girl for Wednesday when she hears the words,
"Will the amazing person celebrating her 101st birthday...please stand up!!!"

Ta da!

 Shuffling off to Buffalo for the weekend...
Going to reconnect with good friends and have some dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.
Going to spend some time with my favorite 'broadcaster' as he hosts a 'gala' and I get to eat, drink, and be gambling a bit.
Hopefully will get to see 'Lincoln' at the movies.

Mom is out of the hospital and getting some rehab in a facility that seems better than many that I have seen.  Over the five year span that she has been a fellow lefty and New Yorker, we must be on Plan M  by now.
Onward we go.

Yikes!

If my little corner of the world of  friends/family get any stronger, we would never, ever lose a game of Red Rover!  That's a game we played in our backyards growing up in the sixties!

My mom who is 10 days from her 101st birthday could be the poster child/senior for adrenalin when she is in her 'awake' days.  Tough days coming as it is looking like nursing home placement is imminent. 

My very strongest and best friend from high school [humm....45 years ago?] is the 3rd of 9 kids in a family I have adopted myself into as the 10th kid a long time ago...went through the stress of losing another sibling to cancer. Curtis was the third one to leave too soon, as were Lorrie and Marion all of whom were in their fifties or younger.  I believe we will all meet again and share some good times.
And there are other troubling events going on...but when Amazing Grace, wonder dog and loyal companion of mine seemed to be sick, I took her to the vet's office.
 I seriously had to squelch the urge to yell out "Hey!  Lighten up!!!"
Gracie appears to be rallying, and that is good.
I have read a few good books lately, and laughed heartily thru the last 'Modern Family" TV episode.  The writers of this show manufacture many comedic storylines for all of their characters.
Let me end with a silly joke:  Do you know what happens if you swallow those bullets that you are biting to stay strong?

It's been kind of crazy here.  Mom is in the hospital, and is doing fine.  Trying to figure out what to do next and where while everyone catches up on needed sleep.  Be back soon.
