Memorial Day
Perspective is everything.
If you have a relative or a friend who is/ or has been in the military, then you are closer to understanding what it is like to have your focus be beyond your backyard.
If you have a relative or friend who has been injured or did not return home, that pain is a part of your life as well as those who know you.
If maintaining freedom hasn't really come close to your life, then the importance of Memorial Day is different.
I watched some of Washington's Memorial Day Concert on Public Broadcasting last night. A young woman with two small children spoke of the pain of going on with her life without her husband. It was very real and so powerful...and I didn't even know her.
Last week, I was contacted by two friends whose sons stepped on land mines in Afganistan. It certainly brought it closer to home for me...again.
How does it get to this point when it has happened so many times before?
I wish that there were better answers to differences of opinion other than wars.
Race...skin color...nationality...
Like that Crayola box of 64 colors that is used together to create one scenario, wouldn't it be amazing if it worked like that for all who inhabited the same planet?
Let There Be Peace On Earth.
