What did you say?
Life with Flo...always an adventure! hallucinations, and antibiotics, and x-rays...oh my!!
Life has calmed down again and life is back to making sense ....somewhat.
Many years ago when my mom would visit for a week or so , and during the summer when I would visit her, she followed the soap [opera]' All My Children'. I would watch it with her and she explained who was who and what was going on. Then she returned to her home, and we were back to phone conversations to keep in touch. And in soap opera conversation, I would ask her ' so, what's the buzz?' Is Natalie still in the well, or did someone find her? Has her evil twin, 'Janet from another Planet' slipped up and gotten arrested? Pretty ridiculous...but that was Flo's entertainment and I wasn't going to pass judgement on her tv viewing habits. That would be raining on her parade.
Now that I am retired and she lives with me [post stroke], I have been trying to get her back into the familiarity of All My Children. [Some of the same people are still on it 30 years later!!] I figure it would be good for her daily routine, keep her brain functioning...
Okay, so maybe a soap opera is a stretch as far as the brain is concerned!!
Anyway, she is amazed at how I can predict story lines. She thinks I should write for them.
Here's the point of all this:
Last night, enroute to the bedtime routine, as we rolled past the TV, a commercial 'teaser' showed two of the ' All My Children ' characters.
We paused in front of it, and I said: "I predict...Since this couple has finally gotten back together again [they were previously married], he is going to say to her, "I want to have another baby."
She is a wee bit hard of hearing...and she said, "What did you say?"
I repeated, "He's going to say, 'I want to have another baby.' "
"You do?"
"Not me, Mom! The couple on the TV!!"
"Oh, Gee!!I couldn't believe that you wanted to have another baby!!"
Here is where you get to imagine the wild and hilarious laughter that ensued from the both of us!! Lions and tigers and bears...oh my!!

My mother is hard of hearing and it is very tricky talking about anything she doesn't initiate. I am never quite sure if she hears the important stuff. It's both funny and frustrating.
I had a hearing test today. Mine's going too.
