Quite the unexpected turn of events.
In Sept 10's post, I wrote about a trip to the doctor with Flo. We left after an hour [without seeing the doctor] because Flo had to go to the bathroom, and wanted to go home.
In the mail today was a card from the doctor with a sailboat on the front, and on the inside it said: "Sorry for the delay in my office this week. Hope that I can make it up to you! Dr. XYZ.
And enclosed was his business card, and 2 other cards that said:
His name and specialty
Good for one free visit.
Thank you for your confidence.
And there you have it. I am pleasantly surprised. And shocked!!

Unfortunately, that is surprising coming from a doctor.
We've become used to long waits to see medical professionals - but that doesn't make it okay. I'm delighted that at least this doctor seems to realize that it isn't "professional" or "polite."
Again, you should send this tidbit to your local paper. Perhaps it could shame some of his colleagues into attempting to address this callis and indifferent behavior to their patients.

Wow! That doesn't happen often (the acknowledgement and apology - and free visit!!). But it must happen often enough in his office that he not only felt the need, but also addressed it by getting cards printed and putting a process in place! Hmmmmm; not sure how i feel about it at the end of the day.
But I do love you! Hugs, Kate

Wow. That would surprise me, too! A doctor who regrets his patients having long waits??? Unheard of in these parts.

I used to work for a doctor who was regularly sued by an attorney patient for extensive waits. court kept ruling that 1 hour was the outer edge of 'reasonable'. dr ended up paying 250.00 an hour several times for the atty's wait time! nice to see one stepping up to the plate without his feet being held to the fire!! you GO girl!!

A free visit? Wow, I have never heard of any doc who cared that people had to wait by giving them a free visit....

I'm also pleasantly surprised...
And I'm sort of sad that we're all so surprised by his acknowledging his shortfall in professionalism.
Two free visits. That's going the extra mile. I'm thinking I'd give him a second chance and see how long it takes you to be called into the back offices.

I used to work for a doctor, believe me it stresses everyone when patients are held up, however, when there is a emergency and the doctor is right there for you, you are very gratful.
