What the heck?

I don't really understand our political system and/or I think that it is clearly broken. Why is it that our government officials vote right down party lines? Aren't they supposed to read the proposed bill, and vote on its contents? What is the problem? How will anything get accomplished ? And why do all the add-ons keep on appearing in the proposed bill...like bridges, swimmimg pools, and birth control? What a mess!
Tens of thousands of people are losing their jobs, and many have lost their pensions to greedy CEO's who are purchasing $50 million dollar jets and $1600 waste baskets after being rescued by a $35 billion dollar bailout...money that went where??? unaccounted for...CEOs who gave out bonuses that were huge...A CEO who mailed out millions of dollars of gifts...Exactly how does one man cheat people out of $50 billion without anyone noticing?? They should be wearing masks!! Why aren't these guys in jail???They should be doing community service in soup kitchens and homeless shelters. And why is there a radio talk show host[whose name I won't even say] making $100 million dollars a year to stir up controversy and publicly hope for our new president to fail...what major in college prepared him for that powerful job?
These people are a part of the problem.

I just don't get it.

When you are up to your ass in alligators, it is difficult to remind yourself that your initial objective was to drain the swamp.

  • It would be fun to be dictator for a day. Then we could lock up all the greedy, unethical leaders of business and government that have conspired--wittingly or not--to get us in this situation.

To be fair, for the past 4 years especially, lots of media people have been hoping President Bush's policies would fail. Why should it be different now?

  • Well... the congressional vote wasn't totally down party lines. 11 democrats voted with the republicans across the aisle. I personally believe that's because this "stimulous" package has too much pork built into it. It's not the best way to get the economy moving in the right direction.

I don't have any more problem with Russ earning an outrageous salary for his fanaticism than I do with some guys who throw balls through a hoop or young girls who can't sing. They all earn more than they're worth. I think it's all wrong. I think our congressmen are overpaid for the job they're currently doing. Yet, would deserve even more if they were working as they should.

The stimulous package is not that different from other bills in the past. Obama is capable of much greater change than this.
