Zoaring With Glinda

And a good time was had by all.

On Saturday, I went to my son's house and had a grand time. It's always great to hug him as well as get hugs from my grandpup, the 'Hank'ster[the very lovable ADHD dog!]. And one of the best parts was that I finally got to meet his girlfriend-a wonderful person...my son is a lucky guy!! Both of us elementary kid teachers, it was easy to get to know her.

First we grabbed a bite to eat at a local place where my eggplant was the best that I have ever had at a restaurant. And the three of us shared two desserts that were indescribably fantastic!

Off to the theater where Jer had gotten tickets to 'the musical RENT' as a Christmas gift. A good show. I didn't realize [beforehand] that the entire show was sung and so you really had to pay attention. My last show was 'WICKED' and it will be tough to find a show as fantastic as that! It's almost like comparing apples to oranges- in respect to musical theater.
And then I had to hit the road to get back home to Mom. It was two and a half hours of snow, wind, and dark Thruway driving always on the lookout for a possible deer 'encounter' . Parking the car in the garage was followed by the customary,'WHEW'. and a deep sigh of relief.

Yesterday, I was pooped. It was a good thing that I didn't have anything that I had to do, and I could spend a lazy Sunday resting. Except for the fact that I logged many hours trying to get my computer to recognize my IPOD. One day everything was working fine, and the next day...nothing! Oh well. My day trip took a lot of energy out of me, but so-o-o worth it. And I was majorly in need of some 'fun'.

  • wow what a snowy road photo-not fun to drive in. I don't miss that at all or anything about winter. we have 60 degrees and sun today...aren't sons wonderful and the hugs they give. I have four grown sons-three over 40 and a younger 26 year old. It sounds like a fun day filling your well.

  • I'm glad you had a fun time and got home safely. Isn't it fun to go and nice to get home? As another mother of sons, I know what you mean about their hugs too.

  • Mare..you were there with my best friend and her husband and it was a night for yucky weather. You need to wave the next time you are in Buffalo.

    Lovely that you like his girlfriend. It would be tough if you didn't..

  • Mare;

    Glad you were able to get out and spend time with your son...I always feel so great when I am able to do the same.
    I have not seen Wicked yet, but I saw rent. Really liked the music. Of course like you, I love music!

  • Good for you and good for your son! Getting out to have fun now and then makes us more content to be home.

  • Wow!!

    1: A day with your boy to feed your spirit, your creative side, and your tummy. Who can ask for more than that? Well, you could ask that he had a lovely Miss in his life to share in the care and feeding of your beloved son. Oh yeah! You even have that!! Sounds about perfect to me.

    I'd have walked barefoot through that snow and wind to have my sons find a young woman to love and be loved by.

    So, if I have to choose... I should choose Wicked over Rent, eh? Alrighty.

    Glad you had the day of fun that your soul was in need of. Hope you get another one soon. Although I find it hard to believe that you don't find a way to have fun on a daily basis. I think it's a part of your D.N.A.
