I've blathered on and on about America's NEW HOPE in other post's this morning. Let me just leave it at this, Mare. Obama is not our greatest hope. We are! He is our leader. One man, making good and bad choices. Having good and bad days. It is how WE respond to what decisions his administration makes that will determine how the Nation forges ahead in the future. If we can stop this total lack of respect for the office of the Presidency, this tendency to focus on every error and turn every mistake into some sort of reason to agrandize the opposing party... if we can STOP all of that nonsense and truly support local, state, and national leaders. If WE can work for change in our land, and not rely on ONE man, ONE ideology to save us... Then we will continue to be the Greatest Country on Earth. Then we can REALLY celebrate! He will lead us, but he can do nothing without the help, respect, and support of the people he leads.
And, we all need to let go of the unreasonable hatred for Sarah Palin, Hillary, Bill, McCain...yes, and Bush...whoever it is that our personal prejudices and policies have caused us to vilify.
The Change that we all seek, who's birth we all celebrate, can not come to pass without softer hearts, or at least kinder words, towards those who disagree with us.
It is true that WE are out greatest hope, but it is faith in new leadership that will give us the impetus to rise above the ruins that have been left by inept leadership that on its best day was embarrassing and always was less than inspirational. Sorry, it is hard to believe in and follow one who first stole the 2000 election, second slaughters the English language, and third lied to us about matters of national security. (Bill Clinton lied, yes, but about personal matters...likely to save his family and marriage. To her credit, Hillary forgave...another soapbox argument of mine.) So, I choose excitement and enthusiasm for the first time in a long time. lv again

I'm very high on optimism that the country will come together and we'll be able to somehow get on a better track than we've been on.
