Random thoughts

Spring is in the air and the birds are singing. It is brighter out, lighter longer, and of course...warmer! Our container bulbs are growing up, up, up! And the 3 year old barren blueberries wintering on the front porch are sporting new leaves. Maybe this is their year to drop their 'booberry ' status!!
Speaking of boo...
Sarah Palin drives me crazy, yet what really amazes me are the people who think she is presidential material...and yes, I do think she will enter the race. I find it scary.

Joy Behar makes me laugh out loud when she is on The View. I don't find her own show at night on HNL that she hosts to be as funny. Maybe it is the quick-witted playing off of the other ladies on The View that brings out her humor. I realize that sometimes they all talk at once, but I find the show amusing and fascinating. And it would definitely not be the same without Joy!

March Madness College Basketball is about to begin! 64 teams...cut in half to 32...then the sweet 16...and then there are 8... trimmed to the final 4...and lastly, the championship game between the two teams who make it to the end. Good luck everyone, and "Go Syracuse!!"

Oscar gift baskets are valued at $91,000 worth of free stuff...It includes a $45,000 safari among other trips and goodies. Most actors donate theirs to charity so that they don't have to pay taxes on it. They still do get the value of the basket as a tax write off. Multiply that by the number of actors who get one...[winner or not ]...they all get them.
I have absolutely no self control when it comes to rice crispy treats or chocolate chip cookies. I'm sure they exist in heaven. For me 'mum', it's rice pudding with whipped cream. Flo never, ever tires of it. [Turtles, either!]
And there you have it. Nothing earth shattering. But today...that's all I got!!

  • Mare;

That may be all you got but it's great to me!
I was urprised that the Oscar gift baskets were worth $91,000. Wow, that would buy a nice forclosed house right now.
Have a great week and my best to flo.

  • I hope you know how I feel about Sarah. I post anything I find about her and her minions --I think she is dangerous.

Good luck to Syracuse -- they always have a good team -- but I'll be cheering for my Buckeyes as long as they're in the mix.

Who needs all the stuff they get at the Oscars anyway?

Chocolate anything is my greatest vice.

I liked this post -- I feel like I know you better!!!!

  • Don't even get started on Sarah Palin! Fortunately, most of the "upper echelon" Republicans seem to think she is wacko, too! That's about the only thing I give them credit for.

I didn't know you had a weakness for RK treats. Good to know that! There are many things I love about you - and the fact that you are definite about so many things is one of them. I'm not sure what I have an absolute weakness for, but I'm usually a sucker for a glass of chocolate milk, a bowl of popcorn, or a handful of almonds. GNSJ

  • Sarah Palin...just her name sets every nerve I have on edge. How shallow is John McCain (and anyone who advise him) that they thought women wanted ANY woman to be elected to a high office in this country? We wanted qualified and competent...like the secretary of state...

Panera salads? THAT speaks volumes for why mls looks like she does and I look like I do! Dark chocolate covered pretzels, dark chocolate truffles, dark chocolate cheesecake...catching the theme here?

  • Sarah Palin drives me nuts, too. I don't see much depth in her, so I'm wondering why others find her to be fascinating.

Also, I watch The View. Yes, the ladies do tend to all talk at once, but they discuss important topics. Whoopie does a great job as moderator, doesn't she? She can diffuse a ticking time bomb between Joy and Elizabeth.

Three cheers for Rice Krispie treats, especially the ones made with peanut butter, corn syrup, and all that good stuff.

  • Some of my favorite treats are warm Mrs. Smith's apple pie ala mode with French vanilla ice cream or Peppridge Farms mint milano cookies savored while watching sappy movies like "Madame X."
    Want to try it sometime?

  • And what you got is a lot! Yae, Mare! I agree with you 100% about Sarah Palin. I just can't understand it. Actually, it scares me more that there are people who do want her for president.
