Dreams...the kind you are not conscious for!
It is a known fact that everyone dreams, and also that many people do not remember them. I have been known to have some pretty unique dreams. Many times I can figure out what prompted the idea, and other times...holy cow...what was that all about?Take last night, for example. I'm thinking the connecting element was probably the fact that I had left my porch door unlocked so that a friend could to pick up some paperwork that I had proofread for her. And from that...
There was someone outside the door, who then quickly entered the house. She wanted to hide out for a bit because the paparazzi was always following her every move. Who was it? Jennifer Aniston!!! I was very surprised that she chose my house, and since she needed a rest, we [spouse and I...huh?] prepared the spare room for her. Stupid stuff like not being able to find a matching set of sheets, and the sight of the TV on its side was annoying. Really...far out. Some past dreams vie for the 'far out awards' and have been known to cause laughter in varying degrees. It is a common dream to arrive somewhere without your clothes. Case in point was my anguished dream of standing in the front of my classroom and covering up my unclothed body by sta

My dream: The two of us were out on the playground with recess, and we raised one hand so that the kids would line up in front of their homeroom teacher to go inside. I was very surprised [and embarrassed] by the sub's behavior because she was dressed in shorts and smoking a cigarette. And who do you suppose came walking across the field to where we were assembling the kids?? The superintendent of schools [!] who told us that smoking was only allowed in the faculty r

Then we see it, go inside, and there is a mural on the wall of...The Last Supper!!
Whatever happened to the separation of church and state? Freud would have a field day analyzing some of my adventures.
School was often a regular theme: I [dreamt] that while trying to call in sick from a clinic in Mexico [was in the Soc St curriculum] I could NOT get a phone connection to go through. An

I would be interested in your thoughts. And for Pete's sake, I can't be the only one who has had some pretty strange dreams!!

I find dreams fascinating, too. I used to dream the same dream over and over. I was lost in a huge building with multiple floors and doors. I couldn't find my way out. The more I dreamed it, the closer I came to getting out. I always remembered my last path. Finally, I figured it out and escaped. I never dreamed about it again. Weird.

Dreams are interesting...sometimes just our over active mind trying to organize all the input there but some are definitely messages from beyond. I've had both kinds...

I don't usually remember dreams but sometimes I wake up terrified and know that there was a dream that caused it.
If I do remember a dream, it's usually weird and signals a change in my life so I haul out the Tarot to try to figure out what it is.

Nowadays I don't remember my dreams. But in the past, I recall falling through space with nothing to grab. Terrifying.

Do you write yours down? Is that how you remember so clearly? Years ago my daughter gave me a little book to jot them down in because I was always talking about my dreams. That's so very sad about your brother. I'm sorry.

Not usually a "dream rememberer." Though I do recall teaching naked dreams in general...no specifics...and have been told that's common for educators.
Near the end of Mick's second tour in Iraq, I had one terrifying dream...that I vividly remember. He got home safe and sound with all body parts...nuff said.

i havent had one in a while but i used to have really crazy (and rather frequent) dreams about none other than my teachers! you guys did everything from just a regular day of school (and then in the morning i couldnt remember if it was real life!) to one that i vividly remember, my high school teachers (like 10 of them) murdered this kid and then we all sat around chain smoking in the parking lot. yup swear to it. so from now on whenever i have a weird dream im going to blame you teachers!

I have some pretty bizarre dreams too...I think everyone does. My hubby wakes up like someone flipped a switch and never remembers his dreams.
Fun post.

Shortly, after my mom pasted away I also had some very VIVID dreams of her and I having conversations. I am not totally convinced that they "didn't" happen, that being the conversations. Since her death was unexpected (just like your brother's) I felt like I really needed some kind of closure and it actually came in those dreams. So maybe in that type of instance dreams are a REALLY good thing! mls

Funny that you should post about this. The night before last I had a dream about my mother's experiences in the war. I actually shouted out and woke up my husband. He said it didn't come out as a scream but loud garbled talking. I guess I've been really immersed in her stories and it's even invading my dreams.
When I was teaching I did dream a lot about school stuff, too. It often gave me an understanding of what I was going through.
It's really funny how we all have that dream about not having proper clothes on. Hmmm... what does that say?
