My favorite season is autumn!

My favorite season is fall. Not too hot, not too cold.
Colorful trees and mums and pumpkins ...
Sunny days and gentle breezes...flannel shirts.
Freshly picked crisp apples.
Tomorrow I'm going to collect some brightly colored leaves and mail them to a friend in Arizona who always misses the changing of the leaves. She is formerly from NJ and was used to experiencing 4 seasons...
So, an unexpected, colorful surprise of Mother Nature's finest hues...
Guaranteed to bring a smile, too.

like your photo taken at an angle gives a different perspective. seems all of us like fall but not what awaits us afterwards. northern utah had some snow this week and we are colder but no snow falls where I live. but it is cooler.

We bid a sad farewell to many of the beauties of Autumn today. Our first hard frost of the season hit last night. My daisies, roses, cosmos, poppies, tomatoes, potatoe vines, zucchini and summer squash are all gone. Their leaves, petals and fruit were either utterly destroyed, or frozen and left to die. We needed to bundle up to walk the upper pasture and take the horses the last of the apples. I'm always so sad to see fall leave the hollow. Winter is a greedy season. She hogs too many months of the year. But, the snow falls tenderly on the landscape, the creek runs swift and free, the trees weave delicate patterns on skies and the earth opens her mouth to receive the refreshment that winter rains serve her. So...
I'll adjust my disappointment at the loss of Autumn's joys and settle into appreciating winter's gifts. But, it's a process for me. I do have to do a certain amount of self talk to accept the change when it first arrives.
So happy to see your spirits have lifted and that you're writing again. Welcome home.

The leaves will be a lovely surprise for your friend, and a very thoughtful thing to do.

We are slow to color up here in my neighborhood - still mostly green. No frost yet, so I'm still picking flowers and tomatoes.

What a good idea, colorful leaves in the mail. I can already imagine a nice collage in a frame. Maybe a pretty fall colored fabric background would make a cute wall hanging.

Beautiful photo. I would LIKE to say fall is my favorite season, but it's the thought of that stark period, after the leaves have fallen and before the snow arrives, that causes me to feel a bit down this time of year.

Hi Mare... I added Chandi's story to my blog. I forgot she had that invitation only thing. She was having some pretty wierd characters commenting about her and her kids. Made her nervous, so she set up the privacy policy or whatever it is. Thanks for stopping by.... I'll appreciate any of your insight.

What a great idea. Every fall we dip bright leaves in paraffin. The thin coat of wax keeps the color and the softness in the leaves so we can enjoy. It's a great and inexpensive way to go! I hope your friend enjoys.
