Name that...
Oh, the seasons...they are a'changing! Temperatures are cooler, leaves are bursting into vibrant colors, and autumn decorations are popping up on lawns and porches everywhere. Recently, we made a quick trip to BJ"s Warehouse. While I quickly gathered the couple of items that we needed, Mom was wheeled around to see what looked interesting. Half -moon cookies dove into the cart and a painted pumpkin was adopted from a display of decorated faces."Give it a name, Flo."
[That's what happens when you live with a retired elementary teacher with a very active imagination.]
"How about....Dolly??" she said.
Now, if you are smarter than the average bear, you have already figured out that a spirited Carol Channing imitation of 'Hello Dolly' resonated throughout the living room. Fun, fun, f

un.Giving the pumpkin a name reminds me of the time my son was a senior in high school and he had to write three essays about King Henry. While shopping for some 'Cliff Notes' help, there were six foot house plants on sale that were calling my name. When I read the tag describing the necessary light and water care , it was identified as an Imperial Palm. Logic dictated 'King Henry' was an appropriate name. A couple of years later, I decided that it would be healthier in my classroom rather than my house, and so King Henry audited my fifth grade with the rest of my student
s. I did, however, change the name to 'Shakespeare' because the janitor's name was Henry and I certainly didn't want him to think I named a plant after/for him!!

You just have to smile as you drive by it! Creative sculpting! I love it!
I'm thinking the bear needs a name, too.

purchasing pumpkins already!? Well, I guess I am working on a Halloween costume, but I like to have sewing projects done well ahead of time. Dolly looks at home on her chair.

Wow! It's fall? That's the rather sad thing about living in the tropics. You don't notice the change in seasons much. Granted I'm not horribly sad when I'm wearing shorts in January. Still, I did love spring and fall in Ilinois. The holidays seemed so much more special and fun. Sigh. I really miss it.

I love how those cookies 'dove' into the cart on their own accord, lol. I'm in the mood to buy some fall flowers myself. there's a lovely pot at Costco.
