Deja Vu...all over again!!!
Knee Surgery Day started in a fantastic way when the nurse managed to put the IV line in about 6 seconds and without pain. I have never, ever had such a succesful IV procedure. Most of the time after one or two attempts, the first nurse will go enlist the help of someone else to be successful. The surgeon stopped by to see me and put his initials on the correct knee to fix. [standard operating procedure]. Then the anesthesiologist said those sweet words ...something like,
"I'm going to give you something to relax you a bit." [altered states...nice!]
So I didn't really feel the spinal, and woke up later when it was all done. Whew!
Back in my room, I was resting and my roommate was, too. She had both knees done at the same time. There was a curtain drawn between us and we didn't see each other. I could hear her snoring and all was well.
And then...as the nurse came in to check on us constantly, suddenly my roommate's health was the center of attention. One nurse lead to another, and then a chorus of voices calling her name. They were having difficulty bringing her into consciousness, and voices got a little louder, and a shot of something was administered. I figured that if she was snoring that she had to be breathing.
Next I hear over the intercom,
"Rapid Response to room 222...rapid response to room 222."That was my room.
Geez Louise...this very same thing happened last August when I was in the hospital for a weekend of intravenous antibiotics. [See 8/18/2012]. My roommate needed similar attention.
From the other side of the curtain, it was wonderful to hear a successful awakening and all was well!! A nurse peeked into my side of the curtain and smiled,
We are going to move you to a different room so you can rest better. My roommate's Mom was going to be coming in to stay with her daughter for moral support. It was 2 AM and away I was wheeled to a private room."One Ambien later to help me fall asleep, AND 'ohmmmm' was followed by 'ZZZ'.
That was Day 1. The moral of the story? I seem to be on the other side of the curtain to a close call or two. So I would never want to be MY roommate!!! What are the odds, really??

That is scary! I'm glad they moved you. I had a similar experience, but not quite this scary, when I was in the hospital last month. The lady next to me was scaring the nurses all night long with low blood pressure, faint heart beat, and temperatures. Needless to say, I slept little.

That is really scary, I'm glad you're ok. I hope you are doing better now, and everything is fine.
I just came by to say hello and to wish you a great weekend.

Oh gracious! Things have been happening while I was away on our trip. I'm glad you're recuperating well. I also have had the same experiences with the IV. I hate having it put in the top on my hand.
