PBS

Before I decided to call it a night, I channel-surfed my way upon a fascinating Public Broadcast Show that had to do with modern technology and its effects on/with the brain. It was 'Frontline'.Digital Nation. and it had to do with technology and how it has the potential to impact education, in both methods and supplies. For the people who refuse to become technologically open minded... they will be lost. I can empathize with their resistance because I was originally computer phobic. I am making progress.
Now it goes way beyond that with smart phones capable of doing so much with the APPS available for downloading. The Kindle might take a huge bite out of the publishing industry, and it stands to save trees and reduce back pressure from students not lugging heavy books in your backpack.
My, oh my, I don't think we are in Kansas anymore. And the wizard...probably on sabbatical.

  • I'm sure the Wizard has left the building!
I vowed to keep up with technology, but that was before I figured out the cost of doing so. So my kids have smart phones, but not me. I don't want any more monthly charges. And then you always hve to update to the newest generation.

  • it's hard to keep up with the times. I'd love to explore these apps but they come with data charges.

  • I still don't have a smart phone and have no idea really how to work an Ap or App or whatever.

I still have one teacher friend in a group of 9 of us who refuses to get a computer. Unfortunately, when we've got things we just want to run off quickly to everyone in a group e-mail, she can't get it. That puts her in the dark until somebody can call her on the phone.

It's hard to do without technology these days.

I have a Kindle, but I bought 6 books for $3.00 (50 cents a piece) at the library sale. I'm not giving up books completely.
