Just curious....what do you think?

I was watching The View, and they got into a discussion about what happens after this life. Not speaking about religion, rather what thoughts cross your mind when you think of the hereafter.

1. Do you believe there is a heaven or hell?
2. How about reincarnation?
3. Are you among the people who believe that there is still an element of communication between people who are here and those who have passed along before us?

My thoughts?
1. Heaven ...yes Complete with dogs and cats! Hell...not so sure.
2. Maybe. I joke sometimes that I must have done something terrible in a former life to have such stinko 'luck' that I do. And I have met and/or seen people who look very much like people in my lifetime who have already left us.
3. Definitely. Too many coincidences have ocurred that suggest being thought of by those who have preceeded us.

  • 1. I believe there is an afterlife, not necesarily a heaven or hell. When my aunt was young, she died momentarily and said she remembers floating up and hearing what people were saying in the other room. She says she isn't afraid of dying because of that.

    2. Reincarnation? I do. I've read stuff that leads me to think it must happen sometimes.

    3. I don't know and yet I sometimes feel like we're being watched over.

  • I believe in a spiritual world. It must be lovely. However, there are no restaurants in Heaven, so I wanna stay alive as long as I can to dine at new restaurants here in this life.

  • 1. I definitely believe in a heaven with different degrees or levels, and a hell where the torment is knowing that we didn't do as well as we could have.
    2. No reincarnation. I believe we are resurrected as we were cat, dog, person, tree, etc.
    3. I have had too many experiences to confirm that there is communication with those loved ones who have gone on ahead.

    Thanks for asking...

  • I'm with Kay on this one...I had a great-aunt that believed in reincarnation and told us lots of stories as a child. I too have had too many things happen that I can't explain..but I am more spiritual then religious for the most part..

  • Well, to break the pattern, no, no, and no.
But you see, I am an agnostic. I only know what I know. It's not about belief for me. And I'm fine with not knowing. This life in itself is pretty amazing.

  • I do believe in heaven and hell, not the fire and brimstone one.

Reincarnation? My vote is still out on this one although I sometimes feel that I don't belong here...that I belong to another time and place.

Yes, yes yes I believe strongly that some can communicate with those who have gone before us.

    Very interesting post.

  • What great questions to get me thinking today...
    1) I'm all for Heaven and hope I have a lovely suite reserved for me with a view of the Grand Canyon.

    2) Reincarnation: I sure hope so! I think being a big fat cat with a really loving owner that lets me sit on the sofa all day long while feeding me cat treats would be nice.

    3) Communication-- Oh heck yes! I swear every time I bake my Dad is looking over my shoulder from heaven nudging me to put MORE chocolate chips into the cookie batter.

This is my first time at your blog- I love it! I'll be back again soon.

  • Hi Mar -
I certainly do THINK that there is a Heaven - and I want to believe that somehow I will see my mom and dad again.
I hope there is a certain kind of hell for really horrible people - Hitler, Pol Pot, the "ministers" from the Congo that I saw on the news tonight accusing and abusing children.
And I do believe that sometimes communication can occur through signs and "feelings".
Mostly, I feel that this life is a wonderful gift to be treasured for as long as it is given to us, and I just can't reconcile myself to the fact that when it's over, it's over!!! diane

  • Twice I heard the same woman's voice call my name at Wegman's...looked all around and no one was there. Maybe it was chocolate calling...I'm sure that chocolate is female!

  • 1. Yes I believe in an afterlife and it will be heaven for some and hell for others. I have been to clairvoyants who have been very, very good and my grandmother is my spirit guide. I feel great comfort knowing this.

    2. Reincarnation? I am not sure but I am open to this as well. Perhaps we didnt learn out lessons well enough the first time and get to come back.

    3. I MOST definitely believe in this aspect - I have had too many experiences - not direct communication per se but signs.

Thanks for your post it was interesting to hear what others think too!

  • A: Yup! I do believe in an afterlife! And I don't think anyone has a difinitive answer on what it's like. I imagine it to be something to look forward too. I don't believe in harps and wings and sitting on clouds... and I don't believe in hellfire and brimstone and red devils with long, spiked tails.

B: Hmmm... I WANT to believe in reincarnation... but, can't say that I do.

C: Absolutely! And I am ever so happy to believe this! Which, of course, reaffirms a belief in something after this life.

    Good post!
