Reframing your thoughts.

"If you don't get everything that you want, think of the things that you don't get that you don't want."
Oscar Wilde
"When one door closes, another opens, but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us."
Alexander Graham Bell
" If you can walk you can dance. If you can speak you can sing."
Zimbabwean Proverb

"This too shall pass." William Shakespeare

All good ones. I wish I could think of something profound enough that people would remember it and quote me. I love the one from Abraham Lincoln about being thought a fool or opening your mouth and removing all doubt. That often pertains to me.

Oscar Wilde is a favorite of mine. His words are not only wise, but witty... or is that Ogden Nash? I tease. I do like Oscar Wilde!
My dad used to say that, "Just because a door closes doesn't mean it's been nailed shut. Be patient... it may open again. But, not too patient. If it, or another door doesn't open soon... climb out the window. Don't let anything or anyone keep you boxed in for long." I like my dad!!
As for walking, dancing... speaking, singing. I am living proof that the Zimbabwean Proverb comes from a somewhat unenlightened country. I CAN walk. I CAN dance. So far, so good. I CAN speak. As a matter of fact, I love public speaking and am usually articulate, entertaining, uplifting...and at least hovering near interesting. But... you DON'T want to sit next to me in church on those days when I decide to "lift a joyful sound"... I CAN NOT sing!!!
I always liked Shakespeare's "This too shall pass" quote... until my second born child pointed out to me that it's not only the trials and hardtimes that pass ... it's the glorious moments as well... and sometimes those moments pass too quickly! He asked me if I didn't wish I could hang on to them longer. He caught me off guard and I realized just how often I wished for that very thing. I wanted to grasp hold of him right then and never let the look on his 6 year old face escape me. I told him that's what memory was given to us for.
Anyway... I digress. Good thoughts.
