Time Waits For No Man...better yet...Man Waits For No Time!!

I volunteer at my local hospital at the One Day Surgery[colonoscopies, cataracts, laser eye treatments, etc.] Waiting Room. I really like it, and I meet all kinds of people. Sometimes it is a person I know. Depending on how well we can joke with each other, occasionally I take the liberty to say,"Hey! You must be here to verify whether or not you really are a perfect ---hole!! And when they are leaving, I get to laugh, " This would be the ONLY time that we know for sure that you are not full of sh-t!
So, today, there was a 17 year old kid who had been admitted from the emergency room for a surprise appendectomy. I was chatting with his mom, the doctor had come out and said all was well, and she could head up to his room on the 2nd floor. As she left, she shared that the boy's father might appear in the waiting room, and would I please tell him the room where his son would be staying. I said..."Sure thing!"
15-20 minutes later
The father appears and wants to know where the kid is, and I share with him the room number where he can go and wait for his son until he is released from the recovery room. He goes out the door and it's 3 steps to the elevator. He pushes the button, and looks all around, and looks back to the elevator status.
He spouts out, "Where are the stairs?
Does this elevator work?
Does this place have stairs?"
He spots a hospital maintenance young adult and vents, "This place is like the Bates Motel! Are there any stairs in this place? The elevator doesn't work...I see no stairs...what's the story??
The young man directs him to the nearest staircase, and comes over to see if the elevator is broken. He pushes the button, and 'Voila!' the door opens instantly!!
The worker looks at me with a puzzled look and we both just smile.
While I realize that "Perspective is Everything", it was too bad that the man couldn't see just how ridiculous he looked and acted! Really...the Bates Motel?
I guess how long a minute is depends on what you are waiting for.
